Kate Self
F&W Program Scientist
Kate joined the Council staff in April of 2023 as a Fish and Wildlife Program Scientist. Her work at the Council focuses on Fish and Wildlife Program Assessment. Prior to the Council, she worked as a Fishery Scientist for the Columbia River Intertribal Fish Commission and as a Faculty Research Assistant at Oregon State University.
Her previous work focused on topics including harvest management, phenotypic and behavioral differences between hatchery and natural-origin salmonids, and the effects of high head dams on downstream juvenile salmonid survival. In addition to working for the Columbia River tribes, she brings experience from state and federal agencies, non-profits, and an environmental consulting firm. Kate earned a B.S in Environmental Science and Biology from the University of Oregon and a M.S. in Fishery Biology from Oregon State University.
