Maureen Hess

Fish and Wildlife Program Scientist

Maureen Hess joined the Council staff in January 2021 as a Fish and Wildlife Program Scientist. Her work focuses on Program development and coordination, implementation and project review, and Program assessment related to artificial production.

Prior to joining the Council, Maureen worked as a Conservation Geneticist and Hatchery Production Coordinator with the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission for eleven years. Her prior work focused on research related to hatchery and natural-origin fish interactions and fitness, coordinating the Parentage-Based Tagging program, and working with state, federal, and tribal co-managers on regional coordination of anadromous Salmon and Steelhead hatcheries in the Columbia River Basin. Maureen received both her M.S in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences and B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington.
