Demand Response Potential

Demand response is the voluntary and temporary reduction in consumers' electricity use when the power system is stressed, and it's one of the ways the region can meet its peak electricity loads.
In its preparation for the Council's 2021 Power Plan, staff has developed, in close consultation with its demand response advisory committee, draft estimates of the cost and impact of 20 demand response products grouped into three areas: residential direct load control; non-residential direct load control; and price-based demand response. These estimates are under development and subject to change.
Staff is continuing to work with its advisory committee on the analysis, and we'll provide updates as they arise--stay tuned.
