Washington and Montana Members Will Lead Council In 2022

At its January meeting, the Council elected Guy Norman, a Washington member, Chair and Doug Grob, a Montana member, vice chair for 2022.
Norman was appointed to the Council by Washington Governor Jay Inslee in September, 2016. He has worked with the fish and wildlife resources of the Columbia River Basin since 1977. He retired in 2016 after 33 years with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife where he had been the southwest Washington regional director since 2004. Norman also spent three years with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife as the interjurisdictional fisheries director from 1999 to 2002 and was a private consultant for two years working on Columbia River Basin fish recovery projects before returning to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in 2004. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science Technology from the Oregon Institute of Technology. He lives in Vancouver.
Doug Grob was appointed to the Council by Governor Greg Gianforte in January 2021. Grob was born, raised, and educated in Montana. An honors graduate of the University of Montana, Grob has owned a construction company, fished commercially in Alaska and worked in the salmon freezing and canning industry in that state in positions that included design, materials management, construction labor, and building needs. Returning to Montana, he was elected to the board of trustees of the Flathead Electric Cooperative. In that position he worked on local and regional energy issues before being appointed to the Council. He lives in Kalispell.
Chair Norman announced the following committee chairs for 2022: Patrick Oshie, Washington, Power Committee; Jeffery Allen, Idaho, Fish and Wildlife Committee, and Louie Pitt, Jr., Oregon, Public Affairs Committee.
