Dear Northwest Citizen:
Each year, the Council, which is funded through the Bonneville Power Administration, develops and adopts a budget for the next two fiscal years. Over the last twenty years, the Council’s budget has grown at or less than the rate of inflation. And, even with the incremental growth in its budget, the Council has been conservative in its spending and has consistently underspent its adopted budget.
The Council’s Fiscal Year 2023 revised budget of $11,850,000 is a reduction of more than $340,000 from the Fiscal Year 2023 budget adopted by the Council last year. The proposed Fiscal Year 2024 budget of $12,217,000 is a reduction of more than $230,000 from last year’s projection for Fiscal Year 2024.
The Council is seeking comments on the proposed draft budget. Written comments should be received by June 18, 2022. Oral comments may be presented at the Council’s June 15 Council meeting.
Please submit all comments on the draft budget to Sandra Hirotsu. The Council anticipates adopting a budget at its July meeting.
Sincerely,
Bill Edmonds, Executive Director
