The Council seeks comments on this paper detailing the recommended protocols for data collection. The paper is the work of the Northwest Environmental Data Network (NED). The work group operates under a 2004 memorandum of understanding and supports collaborative action and joint activities to improve the collection, management, and sharing of environmental data and information. The document was developed in collaboration with numerous parties, including representatives from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the State of the Salmon Consortium, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration - Fisheries, the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, the Washington Office of the Interagency Committee, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, the Bonneville Power Administration, and many others. Additionally, the document has been reviewed and endorsed by the Pacific Northwest Aquatic Monitoring Partnership.
Following the comment period and the document’s final approval, the Council will recommend that the Bonneville Power Administration incorporate the protocols in future Fish and Wildlife Program implementation contracts, and the Council will include it in its guidance for the FY 2008 Fish and Wildlife Amendment process.
Sincerely,
Stephen L. Crow, Executive Director
