The Columbia River Treaty of 1964 between the United States and Canada has a term of 60 years, and it will continue indefinitely unless either country gives 10 years’ notice of termination. Thus, the first opportunity for either country to give notice is in September 2014. This brochure provides a brief discussion of the history, implementation, and future of the treaty.
